Couldn't take it any longer had to call and check on my ccp.. The lady was very professional and said that my permit was approved on the 10th of this month and should be in the mail any day. Now I just sent it in on the 3rd of this month so I can't complain at all... I can't imagine what I will feel like the day I open the mail and it's in my hand, wow! I'm so jacked up right now! Think I will go shoot my GLOCK 19g4!!! Just had to vent

Theirs a great deal of responsibility that goes along with carrying.
For instance, we're not legal dogs. Those are cops. We're sheep dogs. We can work in a pinch if a cop is not around and our lives are threatened.
We are not legally authorized to uphold the laws. We're still just average joes.
And we don't carry "often".
We have a Duty, to carry All The Time! No criminal is going to schedule a stick up with you.
So, the motto is better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

You still have an obligation to avoid confrontation. The legal and financial ramifications can ruin your life for a long time!

You also have an obligation to NOT Allow your firearm to fall into the wrong hands. One knock upside the head and your on your back looking down your own barrel.
Protect your self from being quartered and triangulated. Scan your surroundings. Know your escape routs. Protect your firearm!

Also, I hardly drink anymore...

Outings, BBQ's. Camp outs. Dinners. Out on the town.
Why?...
Let's say you righteously defend your life against an armed attacker. But they found any blood alcohol content in your system.

Your whole story now comes into question, and makes the national news.

By all means!
Enjoy freedom from tyranny.
Enjoy freedom from fear.
Smile back at gangsters who are giving you stink eye. ( they'll know what it means)
But be careful!!
Be cautious!!
And don't give the gun grabbers a reason to come after MY gun!

If you haven't already, take the NRA course Personal Protection Outside the Home.
I teach it.
It will change your perspective.

This is the best thing I've ever had the pleasure to read on here.
Great thread!! I don't drink at all so that's all good.. I have the pleasure of riding w/ cops so I hear the same often and try to live by all that was said above... Classes are a great tool as well I believe. And being legal, I do have a permit "will" and it's better than not having one in my opinion. Just glad to get it behind me, don't know why I've waited so long... I've always shot, just never made it to a class I guess.. Anyways thanks for the input...

As well as I
Thanks for the kind words.
Wow only like a week to get your CCW? Ours take 3 months....
I know right!! Well she said it was mailed out on 10th and surely it doesn't take a month for mail to ship from Nashville to Memphis. But stranger things have happened. She said it would be here this week or early next week. She went over all my info so I know it's coming to the right address ..
Enjoy the security... And responsibility. You have made a great decision.
