Body armor...Do you need it?

Thinking about it... a civilian won’t wear body amor on a regular basis. So, for a SHTF situation, although weight is a consideration, might as well buy and wear the one that offers better protection.

 

Spartan armor is having some good deals.

 

Overseas my armor with everything on it was around 45-50lbs. That didn't include my pack. Currently my setup is 2 level III+ triple curve plates...2 6×8 side plates level III+....2 Soft armor level IIIA behind the steel plates. Im debating on what gear will go on my duty belt and what will go on my carrier currently .

 

Over 15 years ago we were issued vests. I thought they were level III but they may have been IIIA. Full side coverage “concealable”. We wore them under the uniform shirt. It wasn’t the weight that was the issue as much as the heat and feeling like wearing a barrel.
I wonder after all these years if the bulk is less on a comparable vest.

 

How tall are you Greywood? I had to switch from 6x8 sides to 6x6.

 

I kinda like the example in pic that put taser & radio on carrier. Imho.

 

5'10. As of right now there fine. I may switch to 6×6 like you did if they become an issue. So far so good though.

 

With the condor mopc they were not an issue. My new carrier put them in my arm pits. So I switched to 6x6. I’m only 5’8” also.
