Are There Good Gun Stores In Virginia?

Discussion in 'Off-Topic' started by Dustin WJ, May 29, 2012.

  1. I'll be in Virginia (several parts of the state) next week and I was wondering where I can check out some guns. What are your favorite stores there and where are they? Also, I'll have my G26 with me and I would like to get some range time in, so it would be nice to know where the ranges are too. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Try West Virginia, theres a shop in my area that has machine guns.

  4. I'll be landing in Richmond. Later, I'll be driving to Roanoke, so anything along the way would be great.

  5. Awesome! What is it called?

Also found this in Roanoke AO on another forum:

    Roanoke area

    Roanoke Firearms
    3312 Cove Rd, Roanoke
    (540)366-9707
http://www.roanokefirearms.com/ the guy on the far right is a GTOD regular, I'll let him ID himself
Lots of AR's, tactical handguns, and holsters. Good people.

    Bryansteens
    2840 Peters Creek Rd, Roanoke
    (540)562-4867
no website that I could find
Mostly hunting oriented, but with a pretty well stocked milsurp rack. Tends towards the overpriced, but they have always treated me right, and usually pretty friendly. Excellent stock of reloading supplies. I was in the Marine Corps with one of the counter guys.

    Trader Jerry's
    225 West 4th St, Salem
    (540)389-8095
    http://www.traderjerry.com/
A gun show regular, TJ's has a little of everything - tactical gear, hunting rifles, and just got into reloading. TJ's son Aaron runs the Salem store, and is really helpful.

Greentop has been around for a long long time. They are still one of the best even though Gander mountain and Bass pro are within about a 7-10 min ride from Greentop. Not saying that BP or GM are better but some were wondering how well Greentop would do because of those two big name stores came around. Doesn't seem to have effected them.

    Hurricane460 Glock Doc..

Living within 20 minutes of all three (Bass Pro,Gander Mtn and Greentops) I will pass the big name stores for the personal home town feel that Greentops shows. The employees are top notch. You wont be disappointed.

  12. We've had a similar situation here in Utah. I've always loved the Sportsman's Warehouse store in Midvale and, a few years ago, Cabelas opened a store in Lehi. (Just a few minutes down I-15.) It didn't seem to bother Sportsman's Warehouse, but now there is a Scheels opening just a few minutes away in the other direction. We'll see how it goes.

By the way, thank you all for the input!
