First of all I admit that I don't know much about AR's. I've shot them but that's about it. With that said, I see there's a conversion kit that you can buy to convert an AR to a .22. Do any of you have any suggestions as to which kit is "reliable"? My bro-in-law and I are looking to get one for my father-in-law for his birthday so it would be a little cheaper for him to shoot. We don't want to get too crazy in price but at the same time we don't want to get something that's cheap and jams all the time or what not. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

I don't know if this will matter or not but I'm pretty sure his AR is a Ruger. He just recently picked it up at his local gun shop.

Looking at the AR Build thread below it looks like a few of you have the CMMG conversion kit. I see it's about $220 (this was actually the one we were first looking at). Anything that's a little cheaper but just as good? We just need some more facts before presenting pricing to our significant others :D

I have the CMMG conversion on mine and haven't had any issues.....used a box of 500 through it the day I bought it......worked perfectly. You can buy that conversion all day long at the gun shows around here for $120...........which is the cheapest I've ever seen them!! I know a couple peeps that have the same conversion and I've never heard of them saying negative! Good luck!!
