I saw a video of a guy that made a hammer for a wave or a charge, but they weren’t for sale, he just made it for himself. I’ll just keep a separate hammer for mine as I don’t want to beat up my new Charge +.
Absolutely! Bought a Sidekick at a yard sale for $10. About 2 months later, the tab that keeps the pocket clip from rotating snapped off. Called to get a replacement part and they said just send it back. Got a brand new one in the mail about 4 days later.
After already purchasing a Megapro 1/4" awl bit for my Charge + I realized that sharpening an old 1/4" hex drill bit to a point will work just as good, if not better as an awl; at least in the way I use an awl which is to get screws started. I've done very little actual leather work, but it would be a good skill to learn. My Uncle oversees the craft shop at a prison near Freeport and those prisoners do some really fine wood and leather work there. It makes sense; if I was stuck in prison I would want to do be doing the same thing.
Don’t know if they were made out of Freeport but I had this rig made in the mid 1990’s by Texas Prison program. They did the buckle set too.
I have a few multi tools. Swiss Army knife at top Leatherman Surge (my favorite) Leatherman Kick Gerber Not sure what this one is.
That’s some beautiful leather work. I guess when you have nothing but time you can concentrate on the details more.
I came very close to getting the Surge instead of the Charge Plus. It was really a toss up for me. I really like the way the Surge is built like a tank.
I agree but after seeing your picture of the Charge, I can't get it out of my head and now I want that one as well. Maybe Christmas present to myself. lol
My charge + doesn’t have the crimper on the plier head like that one. The crimper is underneath the pliers. Mine also doesn’t have the silver plate on the handle scale like that one. The scales on mine are solid black. I didn’t get the TTI for that very reason. I read a few complaints that the plier head crimper keeps you from getting a good grip on larger nuts & bolts.
They are both well built, but the Surge would win on that one. It is 1/2” longer and just beefier all around and heavier.
I messed up. I paid more for mine. Hate the pliers, & it doesn’t have replacement plier cutters. I should of bought the charge +. I was just so sold on the dual bit holders.
