Anyone use one? Thoughts? Recommendations?

I am not considering one for EDC, but there are some situations when it would work better for me than IWB.

I just bought a Gen 4 27 and started carrying on my ankle in certain situations. I am just using the basic Blackhawk ankle rig. It's not the greatest thing ever but it wasn't too expensive and it gives you that extra option of ankle carry. I know Desantis makes one that has had some very good reviews. Let us know what you end up going with.

Check out the Galco ankle holsters. They are around $100, but they are the best I have found. I used one with my Sig P230 SL. I traded the holster with the gun so I cant post a pic sorry.

Does your Galco have the calf strap extension piece? And do you have any trouble getting the pant leg over it (NOTE: I am planning to wear it with dress pants)

I'll check out that Blackhawk. I guess I didn't know they made them. Of course, I haven't exactly been looking either.

Does the Blackhawk stay secure?

Thanks

The Galco I had was neoprene and leather holster. You can buy a calf strap for it, but I never used it. I will find a picture of one online and post.

I tried several brands, the G27 was just too big and heavy to ankle carry comfortably for me. None of the holsters I tired would hold it in place, especially if you have to walk very far or god forbid had to run

I switched to carrying a kel tec P3AT on my ankle for awhile, and I found that surprisingly the cheapest of the holsters (uncle mike's) was the most comfortable and most stable compared to a Galco, desantis, and a Bianchi.

I stopped using it too though because even with that little mouse gun I could not keep the holster in place if I had to run

I'm not really looking to wear it much or for longer than a few hours at a time. I certainly won't use it for EDC or plan to run in it.

I would wear it mostly with my dress pants that fit such that IWB is not a viable option.

My EDC holster is a FoxX hybrid.

There is another thread on this somewhere but I found it impractical for me. I had no problem with J-frame revolver in an ankle rig but the Glock was too heavy, uncomfortable, blocky and moved around too much.

I use one of the Bulldog ankle holsters for the 26 occassionally. I got it at Bass Pro Shops for about $20. It is comfortable and is not bad for the price. I would recommend it if you are just looking for one to wear for certain situations. Here is the link for the holster if you want to check it out:

Sorry I am late...

I just ordered the Galco Ankle Glove...fingers crossed!
Sorry I am late to this party...I have an Ankle Glove for both my S&W 642 and 1 for my G26...I love them...I wear one of them everyday...I work in a corporate declared 'Gun Free Zone', but choose to defy because I obviously value my life higher than they do...I have been carrying in this fashion for over 6 years, and no one is the wiser...the holster holds in place perfectly without the need for the calf strap...

In my opinion, there are cheaper rigs, but I dont ever want to be in the situation where I am walking across the floor chasing my gun...

I had one of these for my G33 when I had it and I absolutely loved this ankle holster. The sheep skin on the inside gives a very comfortable carry and it stayed in place all day. The snap closure is reinforced and it makes drawing the weapon very easy and smooth.

I think you will really like it.:D

Worn many ankle holsters but like Alessi the best. I have the G27 and is fits, draws and wears great!

I received the ankle glove yesterday and have been wearing it around the house. The holster fits fine, but when I walk, it jiggles like a bowl of jello. (not really surprised about this)

It does not feel as though it will fall off, but I'm not sure if I will be able to get used to it. I only need this a few times a week though.

My ankles are relatively slim. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

If you have realatively smaller calves, wear it up a little higher and rotate it towards the back a little, 3:30 or 4:00. I had that same feeling and I did what I just said it helped alot.

BUT, you are right, it feels really weard. We are not used to having this massive 'thing' attached to the side of our leg. But you do get used to it.
