Thinking about putting on a red dot on my 19X. I am probably in the minority but I don't want to have my stock slide milled. I'd like to get another slide and have it milled for a red dot. Then I can easily switch slides depending on what I like for what I am using it for. Does that seem silly? I've been going back n fourth on this.
I don't see too many options for a gen 5 slide. And then reviews and opinions on line are all over the place. I don't want to drop the money and make the wrong decision.

Definitely not unreasonable to buy a new slide that already has the provisions you’re wanting. I pretty much did the same thing with a Gen5 17 I bought specifically for an aftermarket conversion to a 34 w/RMR slot.
The hardest part is finding one for a decent price.
I bought my Zev slide through Midway USA on clearance.
Gen 5 slides are not as easy to find as Gen 3/4 but they’re out there.
