Yep....Federal HST 147 gr is what I find the best for Self Defense carry. At the range they are accurate, clean and recoil is minimal.Heavier bullets have less felt recoil for the same power floor than lighter bullets. Use 147's at minor floor velocity.
What you are really looking for his a .22 LR so you should have built a Glock 44. Work you strength back up to 9mm status, JMHOLooking for recommendations for 9MM ammo with least amount of recoil.
No recommendation on the ammo, but good luck with the rehab. I've had shoulder surgery myself several months ago, still in rehab. Mobility is nearly 90% back, strength not there yet. May take a few more months.I've had a few months rehab, surgery on right arm, I'm righ handed, took the rehab time to do the build. Operates fairly smooth after I replaced the recoil sprong with a 14 lb. couldn't rack the 17 stock spring.
LOL, a leg I'm not supposed to be able to walk on, but do. 6 plates holding ribs together (if you break a rib, and they offer to plate it,,,,,,,,DO IT), one functional lung, left shoulder has about half range of motion, right shoulder has a damaged rotator cuff (ortho doesn't want to fool with it because he says it's better than it would probably be if he did fool with it), STM is sketchy, random loss of balance when standing. Arthritis in my hands, but not too awful bad. Dental situation is a mess after the wreck. Malnourishment, antibiotics, genetics, what ever, it went off the road. Dentist worked a lot harder with me than she signed up for, but kudos to her.Sounds like we're a well worn bunch of folks. Here's my list; both ankles are fused, both knees are quite worn, the right elbow doesn't open all the way, severe degenerative arthritis in both hands and wrists, discs 5 through 7 in my neck have collapsed entirely and 1 through 4 have lost significant space between them.
But I can still shoot and I've had some very interesting adventures and a whole lot of fun wearing this body out.
Ride Safe. Dr.Tramp................
Not sad brother, glad. I don't remember any of it, but my wife was given quite a dark outlook for me. She didn't give up on me, and kept me going until my head caught up and I could self motivate. I'm walking, and living without supplemental oxygen.I feel pretty good these days still.
Strap on a sidearm and ride my horse for a few hours. Not the 8-10 hour rides I used to do but still good for 3-5 hours.
Sounds like me with motorcycles. I can't ride as long or as far at a time as I use to but I still ride.I feel pretty good these days still.

What do you mean, "not familiar with a semi-automatic handgun"? You don't own one? Never shot one? Never heard of or seen them?Sorry not familiar with a semi-automatic handgun. Last handgun I used was S&W 38 using 125 grain, other than that shotguns or hunting rifles. Have fired nothing in almot a year due to a couple surgeries. Just finished a Polymer 80 G26 build and looking for ammunition for test firing, not sure how I will handle any recoil at all yet.
Some people just don't have any interest in semi's. Holding it, shooting it, or owning it don't qualify you as having an opinion on it or knowing much about it.What do you mean, "not familiar with a semi-automatic handgun"? You don't own one? Never shot one? Never heard of or seen them?
I have a tough time getting in a truck much less getting up in the saddle today. Enjoy the ride my friend.I feel pretty good these days still.

I know people who think the revolver is the answer. What do you mean, "not familiar with a semi-automatic handgun"? You don't own one? Never shot one? Never heard of or seen them?
