5.11 ATAC vs Streamlight

Following the one light = none and two = one mentality I'm looking for a backup light for duty that also is compact enough for concealed carry. Stopped in my local uniform store to check out the Streamlight L2. Salesman pointed out the 5.11 L2 to me and I liked it's "premium" features of a locking tail cap, four hour battery life, and the sold separately belt attachment.

Anyone have anything negative to say about this light?

Did yo mean the Streamlight protac 2L? If so that is what I carry on a daily basis as well as a backup when I am doing police reserve duty. Side by side the Protac 2L and my Stinger LED are very similar in the level of brightness. I may be biased towards streamlight, but to me they just simply cant be beat.
I'm a long time Streamlight fan, but I've really been wanting to get a 5.11 light for life. They have the most impressive stat sheet I've ever seen on a flashlight
270 lumen max
drained to full recharge in 90 seconds
120 minute run time
I am also a long time streamlight fan. My normal use light is a Stinger LED. My friend has a Stinger LED DS HP. It's not all that much brighter. I also have a strion and a PT2L. I recently was given a Nebo Redline SE. The new one. 250 lumens, 1x-4x adjustable beam. 100%, 50%, 10%, SOS, strobe, magnetic tail cap, glow in the dark tail cap switch, low battery indicator (tail cap glows red), belt clip (not that great), and in impact/strike bezel. It is only about $30. It is damn powerful, small, easy to EDC, and just as functional as my big stinger LED.

The PT2L is awesome though and smaller.
Yes I did mean the Protac 2L. I carry the Strion and keep the Scorpion in my duty bag since they are the same light. I use both for everything from traffic stops, directing traffic, and searches. Was looking for something that can be as efficient and effective.

The 5.11 seems to have all the bells and whistles. I also would love a light for life. But idk if I can justify the $80 price tag for the ATAC L2 let alone $200 for the L4L lol.

That's why I want one, but don't have one ;)
I keep saying to myself "self you can get night sights installed for that price" then I go "self if I have a quality light at all times I minimize the need for night sights" then I go "look it strobes too!"

Good point OP

A weapon mounted light like the TLR-1 elimates the need for night sights. I still have night sights on my duty glock 22, but when you turn on the light it illuminates your sights and the target so that you don't even know you have night sights..........just a thought

Don't you get a uniform allowance
Damn you all, now I want a 5.11 L2!
I have one and it is great. Actually bought one for my son for his birthday. Now my other son saw it and now he wants one for his birthday.

Nope. I am Auxiliary so I'm issued one badge and a radio, everything else is out of pocket. Luckily I work in the armored industry as my pay gig so I can justify some purchases.
