45 GAP Discontinued do to unpopularity

Ok heres the latest thing I've heard from a lgs here in Oregon.

So my co-worker on his day off went to a lgs that we've both have purchased multiple guns from in the past. He went in there inquiring about a G39. He was told that he heard that Glock was discontinuing the Glock Gap because its not a popular round and gun.

This is the same dealer about 4 weeks ago told me that he couldn't get the G38 because of being out of stock and to try back in April or May.

Has anyone else heard of Glock discontinuing the Glock 45 GAP or is there anyone that might work there that can chime in on this.

BTW I still want to get a G38 either way.

OK. This may be stupid question. I did a Google search andit has been brought up on other forums last year, heck i didn't even search this forum to see if it came up easrlier.

If so I'm sorry for bringing this up again.
Not saying its not true but I haven't heard this and they are making Gen4 G37 .45 GAP... Plus approx 5 state police use them including Pennsylvania and New York which means there is still a LEO demand for it... My guess is maybe you lgs was unable to get them due to the current lack of stock that all Glock distributors are experiencing... And maybe because it's not a popular gun so they may cut back on civilian buyers and just focus on LEO... Like I said I'm not saying its not true but I haven't heard anything or read anything to confirm it and with the state police using them means there is a demand
I wouldn't be surprised to see the GAP models go LE only, however this is one of those "I heard in a gun store" things. Gun stores want to sell guns. If they can't get the gun you want, they may tell you a lie as to why they can't get it for you in an attempt to get you to choose another gun, one they happen to be able to get.
I haven't heard that...but I have heard just about every other excuses at the gun shops around here.

This was posted on a local forum yesterday (by another Glock Forum member LRodgers) talking about Ruger:

OP, this is how rumors get started...Contact Glock please.
Considering that the Gen4 37s have hit the civilian market finally, and considering that Glock just put Florida Highway Patrol in them last year, I'd have a hard time believing that they would turn around and discontinue them.
yeah even our officers in warren co tn. have been issued g37 and g38 and everyone of them love the thing. i have a g38 and i think its a great concept. not because i have one," because i can just easily get rid of it if i wanted", but because it feels great in my hand, and rocks the paper like nothing. it will be around for a long time.

^^^^^ your on the money with this one bud
lies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Glock 38 is on the way! YAY!!!!

So today i went to a different LGS, the same one I bought my Springfield 1911 from at the gunshow.

Let me back up, this morning I was planning on calling 3 different LGS and inquire about the Glock 38 and if any was available to be ordered. The first one I called was the one I stated above.

Anyway, instead of going into alot of detail I have ordered and prepayed (my choice) for a Glock 38. It should be here by this Friday or Monday next week. I so friggin excited!!!!! :D

I wish it would be here tomorrow ( whoops today, after 12. LOL!)

The heck with that dealer me and my coworker was dealing with.

Glad you found another dealer willing to work with you on this, it seems customer service isn't around anymore which leaves the buyer between a rock and a hard place sometimes because they deal with someone who they trust but don't get treated fairly... Just my honest opinion and observation when dealing with some LGS, I hope that if/when I get my FFL that I remain respectful and helpful :)
Funny the gun store I got to has had a 45gap fr ages can't get rid of it!! But this is canada and were backwards up here!!

P.s 45 gap is a shorter 45acp right?

Correct, casing is shorter but similar ballistics, not gonna get into technical numbers cause it may start an argument about which is better because it's a personal preference judgement and really neither is better than the other because you can make arguments in favor of both :)
I'm glad that I did check with another dealer. I've bought from this dealer in the past and they have always been friendly and helpful. I started with the other dealer a couple of years ago and I had asked them about the Gap back then and they lead me to the 40 cal G27. Which don't get me wrong I love my G27. They seem to always be friendly and they are family operated small shop they just flat out don't want to deal with or sell the 45 GAP. So I don't think I will do business with them anymore I'll just go back to the other dealer for any future buys.

I've always wanted to get an FFL myself, been wanting to for over 12 years just never made the jump.

Glad you changed back, I have a G37 .45 GAP and love it... As for the FFL it's fairly simple if you take your time and pay attention to everything on the application, if you do pursue that then feel free to ask me and a couple others here questions as I am currently in the process and some others are as well. There's also a thread out that I added some advice on getting the FFL that I knew about through doing my homework, not sure what the link is but do a FFL search here on the forum and you should find it :)

I can't wait to get it, they said it should be here by friday or monday. I'm hoping for Friday. :D

Thanks I will do a search for it and check it out.
Just an up date I did get my G38 and I have posted on here that I did receive it and posted pics of it with the letters painted in silver. Since then I have bought a 1,000 rds. of ammo for it from SGAmmo.com.

Most recently like less then a week ago my coworker received his G39 from the GlockStore that he has been looking for for a month now. It seems like they are back on the market because I'm seeing more of them on some of the online stores.

So, last Tuesday I went to the same LGS that I got my G38 from I ordered a G39 for my new CCW. I am waiting in anticipation for it to arrive, they said up to 10 days. :(

My G38 only took 3 days for me to get.

BTW! As I see it the 45 GAP is not being discontinued. That other LGS LIED! Thats ok because he lost 2 gun sales and many more future guns sales from me.
Next on my list is a Gen4 37. The Gen4s are just so expensive!
