The MKA 1919 Turkish shotguns had a pretty good reputation. Haven’t seen them marketed in a couple of years though. I’ve been seeing a bunch of AR looking shotguns lately and have no idea of the quality or reliability.

You going to be the guinea pig?

Possibly lol i probably wont ever use it for hime defense, not until i put a few hundred through it. They have been out for roughly 6 months, so far i cant find reports of any major issues.

they are available in grey and fde

A dunhams 20 miles from me supposedly has the fde in stock

the only thing im not sure about is how the upper and lower dont match in color

Very similar, i do know the citadel takes vr80 mags. Ive looked at the vr80 but they are way over suggested retail. The citadels are available well below retail......for now

i was actually looking at a mossberg 590 shockwave and adding a arm brace but thatll put me around $600 for a 5 rd.

the black citadel ive found for $520. Cost me about $560 with transfer. The fde from dunhams is $530 but will cost me around $610 with tax and background

It has the same capacity as a regular pump or semiauto shotgun.
For HD, one would only need a couple of rounds. I don’t see a need for magazines reload.
I prefer a compact, lighter pump shotgun for HD. I have a couple of semiauto shotguns but for Skeet/Trap shooting and hunting.

Not familiar with it, but I probably wouldn't hate one mainly because I like the AR platform in general and it has the fast reloads typical of box magazine-fed guns; rather than the bottom feeding typical of shotguns. That said, from an objective standpoint, what is the capacity? I'm guessing 5 or 6?

Other than the reload speed, does it have other advantages? The only autoloading shotgun I have is an 8-shot Mossberg 930spx, and if I were going to use a shotgun defensively it would be well within my comfort zone.

no advantage over capacity other than you can use vr80 mags so it can easily be a 10+1

reload time is slower, pull mag out and load it. Where with a pump or semi auto you can reload pretty quickly. Reload really only plays into the zombie or shtf role in which i think i would grab my ar anyway.

My 43x is my main home defense/daily protection. I can see the shockwave as a great 10-15 ft shotgun but not being able to shoulder it is kinda pointless. The arm brace to do so will cost you $150 and then your almost at $600 and limited to 5 rds. At least with the mag fed your able to go 10 rds and not be too crazy long

Ok can you guys shine some light, the shockwave isnt considered a shotgun because its not intended to be fired from the shoulder. Theres a piece available that you can install that will accept a ar grip and buffer tube in which you could install a ar (arm brace) and technically still be legal, is this stepping too close to the line?

Setup like this?

As a firearm, the Shockwave is not restricted in barrel length so long as the gun’s total overall length is 26” or more. Anything less could be considered a concealable weapon, which is subject to the National Firearms Act.

I wouldn’t alter it at all. The BATFE just this year made the Fostech Origin 12 SBV illegal.

I believe it’s pushing the line. It’s a blurry line already. I know part of the origin SBV was the vertical grip. My 590 shockwave will always have the birds head grip style it came with. The BATFE approved it to be manufactured that way. Imho

Im just trying to decide which route makes more sense, the ar 12 gauge is definitely cooler to a degree but the shockwave is more practical. The shockwave is also the easier and quicker of the two to reload. Not to mention the mossberg in theory should be more reliable. To me im looking for a cqb shotgun as i dont have one, something that could be easily used for home defense as well if needed. I know the pump will run. I think the the ar style 12 gauge would be more enjoyable to shoot but the fuss of the magazine is what turns me off slightly

I have a 12ga 870 with a 18 inches barrel that I use for HD and hog hunting. It’s great for both of those purposes.
The 18 inches barrel makes a big difference in maneuverability. However, I think the Remington TAC-14 or Mossberg Shockwave, because of the shorter barrel and total length, would be better for HD or as a truck gun.

The brace didn't really help with recoil, but I never thought it was bad to begin with. I may have liked the brace more had I gone with a Mesa tactiacl high tube adapter, but I used thier standard adapter. For the price of a good brace setup I feel your better off putting in the forms and paying the 200 or whatever it is?...to just put a stock on it.
Fyi...the magpul forend needs to be modified to fit on the shockwave.

The shockwave is pretty cheap and its reliable out of the box. The only mods I'd recommend are new safety, new follower, and magpul forend...or leave it stock. As much as I like the remington the shockwave works and is reliable out of the box. I only had issues once I started messing with it. I dropped more money into the shockwave than it cost and it wasn't worth it..lol

Remingtons like my 1100 tactiacl definitely could benefit by having the gas ports enlarged. The new Remingtons using the versa max system are good to go. As far as tactiacl shotguns even though remington semi autos have improved Benelli's are still the best semi autos I've seen followed by Mossberg.
