    Saw that... Very nice - 460, 454, and 45LC.

But it's only 5 rounds. And I think the Alaskan looks better. (To be clear... I think it's one ugly pistol.)

The vid I saw seemed to show that it handled recoil much better than what I've seen from the Alaskan.

I'll post information and opinion when mine arrives. Put deposit down for the S&W. And I already have (love) the Ruger Alaskan in 454.

The area is frequented by browns where we go, thankfully I've only witnessed 2 (1 other by sound, so in my mind it was as big as the others put together!) and have absolutely no desire to be in a position to need a gun. Having said that, the 460 & 454 rounds are more available. Plus the 45 LC ammo in buddy's lever action is shared.

The LGS is that took my deposit is supposed to inform me this week of ETA.

Buddies: (laughing at my choice) "What the F..., can you find a bigger gun?!"
Me: Yes, but the appropriations committee (read girlfriend) disapproved the A1 Abram invoice. Plus I only need 2 rounds.
Buddies: (stop laughing as they know how this old scenario finishes!)

Actually I like the thought of being able to have the handgun on me at all times. Unlike the one buddy who takes his lever action. He rarely has it within reach (eating, sleeping, pissing) much less on him. I plan to be burdened with its presence at ALL times and feel a LITTLE more relaxed being in the backyard of an animal that is apparently able to take down a horse...

    Hand Cannons...it's a "guy" thing.:D

I'll take a 460 over a 500 every time for the ammo versatility.

What is your mode of carry for those big wheelies? Do you carry backup rounds in a speed loader, speed strip, etc.?

In Galco holster on right hip when I can. Appendix isn't as comfortable. Otherwise it's the well-worn synthetic shoulder holster.

Only 1 speed loader and 6 rounds. Total of 12 with six loaded. Weight is an issue plus buddy's lever action is 45 LC which I could use.

I like it. The extra padding on the grip looks promising.

Except - it's 5 shots and the Alaskan is much nicer looking.

Agreed. The Ruger is a much better-looking wheelgun.

And it doesn't have that stupid lock.
