I love Barnes TSX bullets, I reload Lake City brass with 62gr and 70gr 5.56x45 in my AR's. Very accurate and will take deer.

I shoot the Barnes bullets out of my G21 without any problems at all.

Default glock 42

I had a fte with every one of those self defense rounds as well. Blazer and blazer brass both had fte every 1:3 rounds. Shot winchester pdx1 95 gr self defense rounds with similar fte's. Rented ranges glock 42 and their ammo required magtech. Shot 98 rounds with not failures, even when holding loose trying to limp wrist. Bought a 50 rd box of magtech for my 42 with no failures. Back to blazer, pdx1, and barnes xpd defense 80gr (not cheap!) Same story with blazer. Every other xpd failed to eject. Barnes 80 gr fte every round! What the hell! I'm brand loyal to glock for reliability. At least send a flyer out with gun to state which brands work with gun. I'm sitting here with 800 more rounds of blazer brass that won't feed and am screwed! I feel like I'm in the @#$#%'n twilight zone here!

I wound up pulling the projectiles out of the 15 remaining rounds of .380 80gr TAC XPD. I'm gonna load them for 9mm with Hodgdon Longshot. Should be able to get over 1400fps. I'm also gonna reload those Barnes .380 cases with 100gr Hard Cast flat points.

I had the exact same problem with that Barnes ammo in my 42. I kept six rounds of it just so I could show a buddy next time we went to the range. We were at the range Friday and I loaded a clip full of the Barnes XD and got five malfunctions out of six rounds. I passed on my range report to the guys working at the front desk.

Other than the Barnes ammunition, I've put Winchester white box, HDR, golf dot, and several other different types of defense and FMJ ammo through it and it's run without any malfunctions in about 6 trips to the range.

I can't get Gold Dot 90gr or Golden Sabre 102gr to work reliably. Slide locks back with ammo in the mag more than half the time. It's going back to Glock for the third time now. At this point I'm done with the 42.

Well I've tried Barnes and experienced the crappy performance but come to find that the low bullet weight of 80 gr compared to the typical 95 gr of 380's allowed for a lesser muzzle energy. So it layman's terms, the round lacks sufficient energy to push the slide far enough back to allow for complete cycling... So shoot for HP's with a bullet weight of 90 gr or more.

Looks like Glock redesigned the slide lock lever. New one in the second pic. That should help with the issue of it locking back with rds in the mag. imageuploadedbyglock-forum1396804449.039206.jpgimageuploadedbyglock-forum1396804456.977309.jpg

No ammo I tried worked reliably in my 42, with the exception of -suprise- Critical Defense. I returned pistol.
