I know it's too late to be picky but I want to pick up a quality lower or two in the upcoming months to build myself a couple complete rifles.

What make/materials/model lowers do you recommend and which should I avoid? Not crazy about the plastic lowers, even though I fully support the Glock concept. I have a S&W M&P 15 already and like how it feels and functions, want another one that is more accurate for hunting purposes.

While on the topic, what twist is better for accuracy of lighter 5.56 rounds?

At this point I'd say any stripped lower you can find for under $300 you should jump on.

The lighter the round the higher the twist rate you want, here's some basic guidelines
1:12 Twist 42-55
1:9 Twist 55-72
1:8 Twist 55-77
1:7 Twist 62+

As long as the lower is mil spec the only thing different with them is the companies name and the design on the side of the mag well. If one mil spec lower is higher price then the other mil spec lower is because you are mostly paying for the company name.

Unless if it is a billet lower.

Excellent, thanks for the replies. Will keep checking around, suppose the manufactures are going nuts trying to ramp up for demand.

I read that Pmags are only coming in black for the foreseeable future to maximize output. So if you back order focus on black for now.

Most of the sites I've checked are saying 1/29 or so. Just glad I scored a couple BX-25 Ruger mags, they are our until May...
