Default 3D printing a rear sight tool

After switching the sights on my Glock 17 and finding no problem chucking the slide in a wood lined vise and tapping the rear sight into position with a mallet and wooden dowel, I thought a rear sight tool would be far more convenient if I want to make an adjustment at the range. But... For something I'd use so rarely, they seem pretty expensive.

So I designed one and printed it on my 3D printer. Being mainly plastic, I doubt it would hold up to as much use as an armorer would need, but since I only anticipate ever using it a handful of times and it's been effective to easily nudge the position of the rear sight, it's working for me.

[edit]
If there are other users with 3D printers that would like the files to print their own, I've uploaded it to Thingiverse: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:33587

That's very cool. Since your not installing sights for a living it should suffice for your personal use. Since many of us use a sight pusher only a handful of times a year, I would think there's a market for a cheaper pusher. That is, if it's relatively cheap to produce. I know nothing about 3D printing.

Pretty ingenious man. How's it working out for you?

Allright you messed up. Get back in your time machine and go back to the future. You've got a lot of explaining to do.

This is sweet. Tomorrow I shall make one from aluminum....or at least try depending on my work load.

Ming, Thanks. Yes, materials cost is very low. The real cost is in labor for set-up and cleaning after the print, and amortizing equipment costs. I wouldn't want to sell it to others without more time testing and proof of design worthiness though.

Kodiak, good so far.

Danzig, I would but every time I try to get the Delorean up to 88Mph, I get pulled over for speeding.

Jake, sweet!
